Henrie Haldane
My Moroccan paintings are very textural paintings. The lengthy process involves layers of decoupage, script, gold leaf and paint with the final layer incorporating gesso and acrylics to create further depth.
Henrie Haldane
Photography & Travelling through Sri Lanka, Southern India, Nepal,Mexico, Morocco & Andalucia has inspired much of Henrie's works ~ the fascinating cultures, varying seasons & vibrant colours, create stunning patterns to draw inspiration from.
Born in Yorkshire & having lived in the Canary Islands & the French Alps, Henrie is Inspired largely by a love of vast expanses of nature and her varying surroundings, be it huge impressive skies, the coast, mountains, landscapes and sunsets. A keen photographer, she records everything she sees on camera and brings it back to her studio to draw inspiration from.
Henrie's continual exploration of colour, depth & light, results in an eclectic series of paintings brimming with passion and energy.
A prolific exhibitor in numerous galleries across UK & well known for her private & corporate commissions, She paints across several canvas' at any one time, on various series of paintings: Landscape / abstract & decoupage. Painting mainly with oils, mixed with lots of linseed oil & Scumble glaze to create the fluid application to the canvas'. Trademark to Haldanes work are her deep stretchers, with the painting following around the sides, unframed , the canvas' allow a sense of freedom, leaving the composition unconstrained like a natural landscape, encouraging the viewer to make their own interpretations of the subject matter. From initial photographic research to canvas, Henrie covers the blank canvas' with colour & initially, rarely knows which direction the composition will take, the paintings are all from her imagination....... Subsequently, a layering effect is applied to each painting, scraping off sections and re-applying, slowly building up layers of colour until the painting takes its direction. Through constant re-working, the reaction between Oil & Water based mediums, results in acquiring an immense sense of depth and atmosphere .
